Title: Gold mountain Blues       Author: Ling Zhang

A Chinese-Canadian author writes about the history of a chinese family immigrating to Canada in late 1800's and how they contributed to Canada's history up until this present day.

 

Title: Soft target       Author: Stephen Hunter

A huge American shopping mall is the target of Muslim terrorists but the surprising part is that the organizer of the planned attack is not the type of terrorist we have come to expect.

 

Title: The most dangerous thing       Author: Laura Lippman

Title: Still missing      Author: Chevy Stevens

This thriller won an award in the Best First Novel category and it is well-deserved: a truly captivating story of abduction and captivity set in Vancouver Island by the Canadian author.

 

Title: I say a little prayer      Author: E. Lynn Harris

A religious gay man tries to defuse homophobia among the conservative members of church and state in Geogia.

 

Title: 11/22/63       Author: Stephen King

You are probably wondering about the odd title and its meaning in this novel about the assassination of J.F. Kennedy on Nov, 22 1963. Suppose somebody decided to do the time-travel thing and was able to change the course of American history. Impossible, you say. But Stephen King can make you think otherwise - if you give him a chance.

Title: Lost December     Author: Richard Paul Evans

This is a small-sized book with a large load of drama, sentiment and emotion. We all know about the prodigal son who wastes his life but is given a second chance. Here is the same story set in modern time. Its ending is unexpected.

Title: The wedding Quilt     Author: Jennifer Chiaverin

America honours its history of quiltmaking . This novel, one of a series, relates family relationships within a certain quilting community business spanning several generations. The wedding quilt is meant to be a symbol of the marriage covenant.

 

Title: The Lakeshore Limited     Author: Sue Miller

A well-written story of four people whose lives have been connected through various circumstances, reflects the strange co-incidences that happen to us all.

Title: Dark Prophecy     Author: Anthony E. Zuiker

A gripping suspense-filled story, easy-to-read short 2 page chapters but with a new twist: a "digi-novel" format where you will be given a code to access a certain website to watch a short video scene that will display the characters and the plot line. This happens several times throughout the novel.

Title: The Christmas Wedding     Author: James Patterson and Richard DiLallo

A widow has received marriage proposals from three friends. She has decided to marry one of them on Christmas Day but refuses to tell anyone, even her family, which one until that day. It was hard to read this story without peeking at the ending!

Title: Horns     Author: Joe Hill

On the cover is written "When it comes to revenge, the devil is in the details". His girlfriend is murdered and the main character wants revenge so badly that he becomes like a devil complete with horns, to achieve it. The space between fantasy and reality is thin indeed.
