Every year in July and August the library holds the TD Summer Reading Group, a free program for children aged six to twelve. This program is designed to promote a love of reading and learning.
The reading group is divided into two age groups, six to nine and ten to twelve. Each group meets once a week at a designated time. If necessary the child can participate in whichever group is more convenient for the child and parents, regardless of age. Younger or older children may participate if they desire. Children may attend as few or as many of the meetings as they wish. Information about current dates and times of the reading group is normally sent home from school in June. While advanced registration is not necessary, it is appreciated.
At the weekly meeting the children will be told stories, encouraged to read out loud to the group and take part in crafts, games and activities related to the current theme.
