What is your organization's mandate and mission?

Englehart Nordic Ski Club was established in 1979 and has since provided and maintained 12km of groomed cross country ski trails and an open chalet for recreational skiers and other people.

What are your organization's typical activities (e.g. programs, courses, events, services)?

Our trails are opne 24/7 to anyone for recreational skiing. We have two to four potluck skiing socials each season. This year the local Polaris 335 Air Cadets had a biathlon at our Club. Northern College forestry program - snow shoeing & identifying trees.

Who takes part in your organization's activities or programs or who uses your services?

Englehart Nordic Ski CLub currentlyhas 105 members (19 single and 30 family memberships.) Our groomed ski trails are also used by walkers, bird watchers, snowshoers and sledders. Between Jan 21 and Feb 24/06, at various times of the day we counted a total of 427 vehicles and an estimated 555 people used our trails.

How dose your organization reach our to members of yyour community who have not traditionally been involved in the activities you offer?

We post notices in town inviting skiers and others to use our trails. We also have a selection of older skis, poles and boots available free for anyone who wants to use them.
